Official Visit Visa – Iceland

Hassle-free visa processing for your travel needs.

Overview

An Iceland Schengen Official Visit Visa is required for government officials, diplomatic personnel, and representatives of international organizations traveling to Iceland for official duties, meetings, or engagements.

You will need to apply for an Official Visit Visa if you:

  • Are a non-EU/EEA/Swiss citizen residing in the UK and require a visa to enter the Schengen Area for official purposes.
  • Are a government official, diplomat, or employee of an international organization.
  • Are attending official meetings, government discussions, intergovernmental conferences, or other diplomatic events.
  • Do not hold a valid multiple-entry Schengen visa issued by another Schengen country.

If you are unsure whether you need a visa, you can check Schengen visa requirements based on your nationality.

Eligibility

To apply for an Iceland Official Visit Visa, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Hold a valid passport/travel document meeting Schengen visa requirements (issued within the last 10 years, with at least 3 months validity beyond the departure date).
  • Hold a valid UK residency permit (C-Type short-stay visas for the UK are not accepted).
  • Be a government official, diplomatic personnel, or representative of an international organization traveling on official duty.
  • Provide a Diplomatic Note Verbale from your Ministry or Organization confirming the purpose of the visit.
  • Be officially invited by a government body, international organization, or Icelandic institution.
  • Intend to leave Iceland and the Schengen Area before your visa expires.

Processing Time

  • Applications can be submitted up to 6 months before the travel date.
  • The minimum processing time is 15 days, but delays may occur if consultation with other Schengen countries is required.
  • Additional time is required if applications are submitted in satellite centres outside London.
  • Peak periods (Easter, Summer, Christmas) may cause longer waiting times for appointments.
  • The Embassy may request additional documents or an interview, which could extend processing times.
